A "real" doctor.

Welcome to full time clinic. Where the people want too much from you in too little time, half the things you're not sure what to do with and the other half, you're not sure you want to tell them what you need to do.  I will say...it's not boring. It's overwhelming, insane, ridiculously busy, funny, frustrating, and definitely definitely too much work for too few hours...but it's not boring.

In just over one week of being in the "real" Navy as a "real doctor", I've done the strangest things! Busted open an abscess in the middle of clinic, run an ER by myself (not gracefully, i might add), dx'd a 2nd trimester loss when she just came in for a cough, injected 2 feet, 1 knee, done more pap smears than in 1 month at jax, filled out more paperwork than i've never seen before (never AGAIN will I do a VA physical - for those of you who even know what kind of badness that is), etc. Some of it may seem mundane...but i'll tell ya, I'm looking things up left and right because guess what? I have no freakin' clue what I'm doing. at least part of the time. Maybe this is why they call it "practicing" medicine.

One day i'll be doing the real thing.

today, I saw a fake sneezer. A 10year old who fake sneezed her way out of class, out of school and into the ER. She was very intent on making us all think she was allergic to something...until i said that she might need a shot and possibly a "nasal rinse"...oh and no food or drink and possibly an IV in case she gets dehydrated. Mom was on my side. The sneezing stopped pretty abruptly. Ever seen someone REALLY keep their eyes open while they sneeze? Hard to do...if your not faking it.

Note to self. Science is fun.

Justin is searching for jobs...was offered a $15/hr coaching position...for 1.5hr/day, 4 days per week...that's, um, about $240 a month...so we're still looking. it'll happen.

Nice change of weather this morning.  a little cooler, less humid. Seasons? What a concept.

Oh, Franchi, I so can relate to all this. The more I learn, the less I know. And for some, it just keeps getting scarier!
